Marinade for Steaks

Steaks of choice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 - 2 cups soy sauce
1/2 cup bourbon
1/8 cup maple syrup

In a small mixing bowl, combine garlic, soy sauce, maple syrup and bourbon. Pour mixture over steaks and marinate at room temperature for 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

Remove from marinate and place on grill or on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. If roasting, place in preheated 450 degree oven and cook until desired temp is reached for well done, medium rare, etc. If on a grill, use meat thermometer to determine when ready to eat.

*In our family, the person celebrating the birthday picks the menu for their special meal! My "baby" Miles chose this for his 16th birthday. He requested marinated steaks, homemade mac and cheese, caesar salad, yeast rolls and chocolate eclair for dessert. This was the first time I'd tried this recipe- everyone loved it! I marinated the steaks about 20 hours and they were very flavorful and tender. -Lisa
